National Program for Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH)
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare launched the National Program for Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH) in 2019.
Objectives
- To create awareness among the general populace in West Bengal, health care providers and policy makers about the multifarious impacts of climate change on human health.
- To strengthen capacity of the state healthcare system to reduce illnesses/ diseases due to variability in climate.
- To prepare health adaptation plans and improve health preparedness to deal with climate sensitive diseases and extreme weather events.
- To develop partnerships and create synergy with other depts. and ensure that health is present in climate change agenda of the state.
- To strengthen research capacity to fill the evidence gap of climate change impact on human health
